YEAR ONE - SEMESTER ONE FLOWER ESSENCE MIND – BODY MEDICINE (FEM 101) This module presents the Mind-Body Medicine of Flower Essence Therapy and Colour (Chroma) Therapy through the therapeutic qualities of 88 flowers. Flower Essence Therapy’s oldest known tradition is the South West Australian Aboriginal Bibulmun tradition which goes back to the global ice age (of 10 to 15 thousand years ago) and there are other historical and modern traditions in other lands. Each flower property epitomises a positive response to a common difficulty and enables analysis of the role attitudes play in creating both patterns of behaviour and an individual’s everyday realities. The 88 scenarios also offer a platform to discuss the common, personal mind/physical problems as they are presented in the clinical situation as well as the difficulties arising when a person is communicating such problems to the therapist. Also included in this section are Mind-Body Medicines used on Traditional Chinese acu points for common problems such as stress, pain, energy loss, nausea fainting and sleeplessness caused by worry. PATHWAYS FOR MENTAL WELL BEING (PMW 101) The course starts by defining the holistic perspective incorporating Western, Eastern and Indigenous sciences in the planetary knowledge-bank and health outcomes of the present day state of human health. The continuing health crisis, equalled by increasing medical interventions in both physical and mental health, begs the question; What is driving all these health outcomes and can anything be done? In this module Happiness is studied as both motivation and energy source. Why do genuinely happy people have more energy and better physical and mental health outcomes? Why aren’t these people likely to suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or become addicted to legal or illegal drugs? To answer such questions the Happiness Diary and Archetypal behaviours are studied as therapeutic assessment tools, revealing how happiness goals as a parent, a lover, son, daughter, colleague or individual seeking self-development motivate the behaviours behind the health statistics. LAW AND ETHICS (LAW302) A course focussed on Natural therapists, Australian law and how to run and manage a professional practice. CHEMISTRY The Chemistry Bridging Course is for those students who need to do the chemistry module and have not successfully completed Year 12 or similar level chemistry. On completion of the module, the student should be able to demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of basic scientifi c concepts, principles and theories. LiFE NUTRITION 1 (LNU102) Nutritious food could be described as; a simple and straight forward phenomena of the physical dimension of life; patterns of atoms and molecules forming chemical substances which, when ingested, interface with the systems of a life-form which can process them to maintain and promote its vitality and its genetically pre-determined functional existence. However, as human beings, our relationship to foods we need or desire, and our consciously and subconsciously motivated choices of foods, are the actual driving forces behind our final act of ingestion. To understand human nutrition holistically we will have to take into account the holistic aspects of humans and the foods they choose to ingest, this module explores these issues and many more. YEAR ONE - SEMESTER TWO ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT SOLUTIONS FOR THE SUBCONSCIOUS
(ATS 102) A number of dynamic assessment tools are presented in this module, which penetrate beneath the conscious mind to the subconscious patterning beneath. In this subconscious layer of mind lie the impression of events on the individual consciousness and attitudes towards the event and any future similar events. These Survival and Wisdom Concepts are revealed by using this module’s assessments techniques along with the opportunities for healing and growth through the application of Mind-Body Medicines. The holistic counselling aspect helps in identifying health and well being goals and which states of mind can enhance or hinder attaining these goals. Baths, sprays and oral doses of Flower Essence Therapy are presented along with meditations to enhance therapy in between counselling sessions and the therapist’s own personal development. CLINIC TECHNIQUES (CLN201) Clinical practice offers you the opportunity to practice and demonstrate your skills and the knowledge you have gained from your units of study at the LiFE Academy in a live setting under supervision from Academy staff who are selected from therapists whose practice has an excellent reputation in the community. One of the most important skills to develop in clinic is effectively communicating with clients. This includes listening and continually developing empathy. Clinic studies help you gain confidence and help you integrate learnt skills and their application to your clients. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 1 (AAP102) The anatomy and physiology modules are designed to take students who have no prior knowledge of the human body through to a competent level of understanding. Extensive study is carried out on all of the body systems, including structure and function. BIOCHEMISTRY This module provides the student with a basic knowledge of the principles of science that is required as a foundation for modern natural therapies. They will develop an understanding of the chemical processes involved with cells, enzymes, lipids, proteins etc. and the infl uences of physiological mechanisms. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 2 (AAP102) The anatomy and physiology modules are designed to take students who have no prior knowledge of the human body through to a competent level of understanding. Extensive study is carried out on all of the body systems, including structure and function. YEAR TWO - SEMESTER ONE LAWS OF RELATIONSHIPS (LOR201) Human beings generally describe their well being in terms of their own goals and the quality of their relationships with others. All relationships are unique in their problems and solutions to those problems and yet they also display common structures and operating dynamics. This module presents the common forces affecting one on one and group dynamics to find out why we form bonds with others and what factors will influence the outcome of those bonds for the individuals involved. Each individual’s evolutionary pathway and personal happiness goals are crucial elements in understanding the holistic picture of human relations. NUTRITION 1 (NUT101) The nutrition modules are important as they integrate with many of the medical science modalities ensuring that the learner has a firm basis of understanding of all aspects and needs of the human body and its performance. What was once invisible and unthinkable has many times over the past two hundred years been found to be real. This module is an introduction to the basic principals of Quantum Physics by presenting remarkable discoveries and the way in which the seemingly invisible Universe has become theoretically and sometimes practically visible to modern science. The family of minute members is revealed in layers of a multi dimensional universe, all bound to reality by the precision of a mathematician but first imagined by great minds of the nineteenth and twentieth century. CLINICAL MEDICINE 1 (CLM201) Here the direct physical causes of disease are investigated. Extensive study is undertaken into the pathology of diseases. Major emphasis is placed on ability to recognise signs and symptoms involved with many common diseases. Consequently, students study infections, genetic and hereditary problems, infl ammations, general disorders and their origins as well as sterilisation and infection control. Information is then correlated to the treatment of various disorders according to natural and conventional medicine. COUNSELLING 1 (CNS201) This subject develops the learner’s ability to communicate with, and effectively counsel their clients in, the conventional approach. It involves the development of verbal and nonverbal communication, crisis management and confl ict resolution. Students are able to understand questioning techniques which will be used during patient consultation. The counselling aspect focusses on the basic origin and effects of emotions, along with the stimulus of behaviour and the basic aspects of personality. STUDENT CLINIC (CLN201) Clinical practice offers you the opportunity to practice and demonstrate your skills and the knowledge you have gained from your units of study at the LiFE Academy in a live setting under supervision from Academy staff who are selected from therapists whose practice has an excellent reputation in the community. One of the most important skills to develop in clinic is effectively communicating with clients. This includes listening and continually developing empathy. Clinic studies help you gain confidence and help you integrate learnt skills and their application to your clients. YEAR TWO - SEMESTER TWO RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS AND
THE MIND-BODY INTERFACE (RD202) This module explores the choices of attitudes and actions a person has within a relationship bond, as well as the intended or unintended outcomes of those choices. The roles of attitudes like empathy, self empathy, appreciation and self importance seem to inevitably steer a relationship on its course or final destination. Preconceived ideas and set behavioural patterns are further discussed in the framework of the Nine Relationship Psychologies which are aligned to the meditative attunement exercises given in this part of the course. The student learns how to enable a person to break free of automatic responses to people and situations, as well as understanding the nature of telepathic rapport and how we attract into our life the relationships that define either our happiness or lack of fulfilment. The final section is the definitive science of the Chakras and their mind processing points, the Vrttis which connect internal mind to the external world and the physical body. NUTRITION 2 (NUT102) The nutrition modules are important as they integrate with many of the medical science modalities ensuring that the learner has a firm basis of understanding of all aspects and needs of the human body and its performance. CLINICAL MEDICINE 2 (CLM202) Here the direct physical causes of disease are investigated. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 3 (AAP201) The anatomy and physiology modules are designed to take students who have no prior knowledge of the human body through to a competent level of understanding. Extensive study is carried out on all of the body systems, including structure and function. COUNSELLING 2 (CNS202) This subject further develops the learner’s ability to communicate with, and effectively counsel their clients in, the conventional approach. It involves the development of verbal and nonverbal communication, crisis management and conflict resolution. YEAR THREE - SEMESTER ONE INDEPTH MEDITATION AND METAPHYSICAL MIND (IMM301) This module takes the student on a journey to understand the conceptual universe of the human being and their relationship to the animate and inanimate external environment. Concepts in the mind are seen as more than just bytes of information but dominant drivers of behaviours and therefore the basis from which we perceive our experiences of life, our sense of reality. Working with a person’s conceptual universe a therapist can ascertain internal blockages in the healing process and trigger a pro-active rather than obstructive response. The Yogic framework of the layers and sub-layers of mind enable a detailed view of an individual’s internal world and the mechanisms that propel a person into embracing transformation rather than remaining in negative states of being. In the paradigm of present day holism, the human is seen as trifarious being of body, mind and spirit; during the course students develop an understanding of how to work with these aspects in a meaningful and pragmatic way. Through deep meditative processes a person can unlock their reservoir of potential and transform old or create new concepts needed to achieve their desired healing outcomes. Through learning meditative techniques the therapist also enriches their own resources of healing and growth. NUTRITIONAL BIOCHEMISTRY The nutrition modules are important as they integrate with many of the medical science modalities ensuring that the learner has a firm basis of understanding of all aspects and needs of the human body and its performance. CLINICAL MEDICINE 3 (CLM301) Here the direct physical causes of disease are investigated. GENETICS (GEN301) This module encompasses an introduction to the basic principles of genetics with a molecular emphasis. Bacterial, plant and animal cells, chromosomal basis of heredity, chromosomal structure, chemical nature of the gene and genetic code will be presented to lay a foundation to understanding the effects of genetic messages in the human organism. Changes in genetic structures and the forces that yield those changes will be discussed in the context of health and disease. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY/THESIS (RMT301) The formal presentation of the student thesis for the Advanced Diploma. Includes actual work on the project which involves discussions with, and the guidance of, mentors and lecturers. YEAR THREE - SEMESTER TWO MIND-BODY MEDICINE ELECTIVE - ASTROLOGY - AST302 Studied by Pythagorus, Isaac Newton and Carl Jung the astrological significance of the stars and planets presents to us a psychological geometry that reflects archetypal patterns and cycles of behaviours. This study brings a focus to relationships between aspects of ourselves as well as how that plays out in connection to others. This ancient science arising from both the East and the West and with modern, living traditions, is a great tool for self reflection and creative problem solving. LIFE NUTRITION 2 (LNU201) This module continues from Life Nutrition One helping the student to assess the intrinsic motivations of a person’s inner life that impacts on food habits. How to assess the internal factors hampering change and improvement in nutrition, the roles of states of mind on nutrition in therapy. Further to this students will begin to understand how to encourage a person to empower themselves in their holistic sourcing and growing of food and engender an aware and practical connection to the living world from where food and nutrition comes. CLINICAL MEDICINE 4 (CLM302) Here the direct physical causes of disease are investigated.
