This module encompasses an introduction to the basic principles of genetics with a molecular emphasis. Bacterial, plant and animal cells, chromosomal basis of heredity, chromosomal structure, chemical nature of the gene and genetic code will be presented to lay a foundation to understanding the effects of genetic messages in the human organism. Changes in genetic structures and the forces that yield those changes will be discussed in the context of health and disease. |
