LiFE Academy offers all its courses as distance education as well as at the Perth campus (also other partner colleges).

The three ways of learning in the distance education are

• study and assessment packages in hard copy
• virtual classroom and
• interactive CD Rom.

All holistic health modules at LiFE Academy are available in Interactive CD Rom and Virtual Classroom.

The virtual classroom is a new age development which creates the possibility of people living in any corner of the globe, participating in learning experiences together. It also enables people from any region to have direct access to world experts while gaining qualifications.

There are two main systems used; the first is the virtual classroom where students can interact with each other and their teachers, on-line and in real time. This means that the teacher or tutor will conduct teaching and discussion sessions on a specific day and time and the students log in to join the classroom activities. The second type is like a chat room where the teacher or tutor designates a period of time, often seven days, for discussion and development of a chosen topic. The students log on as many times as they like during that time and see how the discussions are developing and what the teacher's responses have been to questions. Students can also be assessed from class participation.

At the LiFE Academy we have a unique addition to all of this in our interactive CD ROM which introduces the student to their expert teachers, the learning and assessment material, in a feast of multi media. Using narration of text, video clips, virtual white boards all with study and assessment aids, the student progresses through the learning experience being immersed in their subject of interest.

Flexible Time Management

The beauty of virtual classroom learning is that it gives you flexibility to suit your life-style, particularly in time management, while expanding your horizons. Most people want to continue learning new skills and gaining new or better qualifications. This can be very difficult with existing commitments of family and employment.

Attending courses externally often means creating more stress on your lifestyle. The LiFE Academy external study courses enable you to study at the best time for you during the day or week without impinging on other areas of your life. When you can study at the best time for you, you often study at your best.

The Luxury of Studying Within the Environment of Your Choice

Another area of flexibility for your learning experience is having the choice of where you wish to study. Theoretically, with all the technology now available you can study anywhere in the virtual classroom, even on the top of a mountain! For most people, however, being able to study at home is a great asset in this learning system. Not only can you have an ideal environment but for people with young children it means they can gain educational qualifications and skills while enjoying being a parent.

For anyone who is sick or disabled, the virtual classroom system enables them to study, including having the enjoyment of interaction with fellow students, even though mobility is restricted.

Learning at a Pace Suitable for Your Lifestyle

The LiFE Academy courses can be studied within different time frames. Like most government accredited courses qualifications must be completed within a ten year period to still be valid, but most people work within a full-time or part-time frame work. The full-time courses enable those eligible for Austudy or Abstudy to be paid a student allowance while studying under a specific time frame and number of modules. When not under these allowance schemes the student can work toward their qualifications at their own pace as long as they complete the entire qualification within ten years.

For those wishing to pick and choose the study modules for interest and self development there is, of course, freedom to choose the pace that best suits them. A person can, for example, study one module at a time.

Students from around the world are now invited to join in the dynamic and inspirational environment of live classes from LiFE headquarters in Perth. All from the comfort of their own home!

With a webcam and microphone setup on their home computer, the remote student can interact with the class and lecturer as if they were there in person - it's like participating in a live television talk show covering the unique content for which the LiFE Academy is renowned.

If you don't have a webcam or microphone setup on your computer, don't worry, you can still listen and interact with the class by text messaging.

Also, if you can't make it to the live session, you can watch the recording of the session later at a time that suits you.
